Barcelona reportedly sign Arturo Vidal

Barcelona sign Arturo VidalMidfielder Arturo Vidal for Bayern Munich has reportedly signed with Barcelona. Barca has agreed on personal terms with the player ahead of a 27 million Pounds transfer. According to some sources, the Chile international has passed a medical ahead of a switch to the Camp Nou. With this decision, he is bringing an end to a three-year play at Bayern.

First of all, Barcelona has been looking to Adrien Rabiot, the star of Paris Saint-Germain as a possible option to strengthen their midfield. But the France international and the Ligue 1 club are unwilling to let this transfer happen.  So as it appears the attention of Barcelona has been turned by Vidal instead.

The player now has 31, so there is a little doubt about this transfer when it comes to longevity of the contract but still, Vidal is at his best and he remains to be known as one of the standout midfielders anywhere in the world.  This summer has been the summer of departure for Barca since Andres Iniesta and Paulinho exited the club. So it wasn’t shocking to Barcelona’s boss Ernesto Valverde the need to strengthen his midfield options.

Having excelled in spells at Juventus and Munich, Vidal is no stranger to the big stage either, for the last seven years, he has been on a title-winning team in succession, with three of those triumphs coming in Germany and four of them in Italy. To be honest, Vidal is not a quintessential Barcelona midfielder, because usually, the Catalan club has focused their play in the middle third around sharp passing and technical ability.

This Barcelona opportunity that has been given to Vidal is considered to offer an extraordinary career at the highest level in European football for him. Vidal has thrived in two of the game’s toughest divisions so there’s no apparent reason why he shouldn’t blossom in La Liga, either.

The signing of Vidal for Barcelona is something that cements their status as favorites to defend the La Liga title they won last season. This is even more spectacular for them now since Real Madrid is entering the campaign without Cristiano Ronaldo and former manager Zinedine Zidane.
