Uganda Makes Sport History with Double Rugby Victory at African Games

History was made in Accra, Ghana when rugby emerged as one of most competitive sports at the 13th edition of the African Games. Uganda came out victorious in both the men’s and women’s rugby competitions.

Ugandans’ journey to gold started with a huge victory over Tunisia, where they humiliated them 48-0. However, in the game against Burkina Faso, they faced a challenge in the first half, but they rallied to victory with a final score of 24-14. Uganda won Joint Bid Together with Kenya and Tanzania to Host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027

Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania won a joint bid to host the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON). Senegal, which was a more preferred country as well as Botswana presented their bids but lost to the East African countries.

The bid was received with enthusiasm among Ugandans. This will be the first time Uganda will host the most important football tournament on the continent. This proposal is referred to as the “Pamoja” bid.
