The reports that have been swirling around lately about the potential leaving of the Croatian midfield duo Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic out of the club are untrue. Julen Lopetegui has insisted these reports to be denied since Luka Modric has been linked with Inter Milan and Kovacic has reportedly not turned up for training in an attempt to force a move. Lopetegui is adamant they are going nowhere.

For Marca, Lopetegui has said: “I have no record of what you say about Kovacic. He trained with his team-mates and there has not been the slightest problem. I love him and we are delighted that he is part of the club. I think that Modric and Kovacic are going to be very happy to play for Real Madrid.”
Modric has helped Madrid to win three successive Champions League titles and has been a vital cog in Madrid’s midfield over the last few years. Florentino Perez, the President has already said that any potential suitors for Modric would have to match his 750 million Euros release clause if they want to sign him this term. That’s one of the reasons why Lopetegui seems confident he will be able to call upon the services of Modric and Kovacic for the upcoming season.
