Potential Real Madrid move for Thibaut Courtois

The agent of Thibaut Courtois is urging that the Blues let the Belgium international goalkeeper move to Real Madrid in this transfer window. He has been linked with this switch to the Spanish capital in recent weeks since Courtois has left just one year more remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge. It has been already made clear by his representative, Christophe Henrotay that he wants the transfer to go through.

But the Blues are not still willing to sell him until a replacement for the starting stopper is found. We all know that the Premier League transfer window closes on August 9 and it would be a massive shock if Chelsea let Courtois go without finding a replacement. So the clock is ticking right for any deal to be done, but we must understand that it leaves the Blues in a tough position. Chelsea faces the prospect of losing the 26-year-old for nothing next summer if they don’t sell him in this window, while Courtois is evidently willing to switch regarding his one year left remain of his contract.

It’s evident that Sarri wouldn’t want to head into the 2018-19 campaign without an elite goalkeeper between the sticks. Courtois falls into this bracket by also showing his pedigree on the biggest stage worldwide, helping Belgium to end up third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. He had a brilliant run in the competition. We know that is hard to let go of what he did for his Chelsea team by being the starting goalkeeper at the Bridge and has helped the team for four years to two league titles. The shot-stopping command and prowess of his area are up there with the best in the division.

Getting in a goalkeeper to replace Courtois will be a challenge so late in the window, so the situation may get testing for Chelsea. The Belgian is desperate to head to the Spanish capital for a second spell since he excelled in three years on loan with Atletico Madrid from the Blues.
