Jose Mourinho points out the reasons Paul Pogba to understand why he is so good
Pogba was one of the stars of France’s World Cup triumph and Jose Mourinho has pointedly urged to tell him to understand why he nailed the World Cup. Capping an incredible individual campaign in Russia, Pogba superbly netted Les Bleus third goals in Sunday’s 4-2 result win over Croatia. He shined on the biggest stage in the world, so the 25-year-old grew into the tournament; a contrast to the fractious season at Old Trafford under Mourinho’s coaching. For both legs of the Champions League Pogba found himself on the bench and was withdrawn during losses to Newcastle United and Tottenham. Then a speculation mounted that the relations with his manager were over a breakdown. Mourinho hailed his performances during the latter stages of the competition and confirmed he passed the congratulations to Pogba. Mourinho hopes that the club’s record signing has the awareness to bring this form into the Premier League. “I think that’s the point about his performance level and his contribution to a winning team – for him to understand why he was so good, especially in the second part of the competition. I hope that he understands why he was very good. In the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final he was absolutely brilliant.” – added Mourinho. “To win the World Cup can only be a positive thing. It’s difficult to say that to win the World Cup is not good for a player’s career. So many good players never have the change to be a world champion.” – said firmly, Mourinho.
